FPS: The Evolution Of Camping (In-Game vs. Real-Life)

Back in 1995 when DOOM blessed our Windows 95 pc’s, scared gamers began camping behind walls, patiently waiting for the next heavily pixelated monster to jump out and ATTACK!
With a whopping 90% of all installs of the game being (in todays terms “pirated”) shared installations, floppy drives of the remaining 10% struggled to keep up with the increasing demand. Line ups began to build up in front of neighborhood houses, land lines were ringing off the hook, some people even had to work at home on weekends to make sure every last one of their new friends got to play…
Oh how times have changed…
Today, we camp from high definition soldiers, who taunt and ATTACK us from around the world. Since 90% of people now choose to buy the game, residential driveway line-ups are converted into commercial parking lot campsites anticipating launch dates for popular FPS’s such as Call of Duty.
Here’s a quick look at the past 2 years of the Call of Duty Release Date Camping experience.
The moral of my story is this: Don’t hate the campers in-game, it’s not their fault. It’s just genetics.
We go through our whole lives camping, whether we’re waiting in traffic, in line, online, or simply waiting for work to end…Were all just waiting for something to happen.
and if we’re lucky we may even get to go camping on the weekends.
